Hill AFB Building 238 Fire Alarm Renovation

Hill AFB Building 238 Fire Alarm Renovation

This project was for the installation of a new voice (ECS) Fire alarm system in Building 238 on Hill AFB. Building 238 is a large production and maintenance facility that has both secure and non-secure areas. This project required us to work around occupied spaces and around sensitive and highly specialized equipment. Meticulous coordination with the building user and security forces was required to take advantage of times when certain areas in the building would be available or when airplane parts were out of the area. This project required us to get the new system up and fully operational before demolition of the existing system. We were able to complete work in all occupied areas without incident or complaint from the building user. In the end the building user was completely satisfied with the instillation and workmanship of the new ECS system.

The main challenge in this project was working in, around, and over a large, fully operational production facility with several secure areas. There was careful, daily coordination with the government to schedule work around the buildings mission requirements. In the end, dozens of miles of conduit and wire were placed without interruption to the facility’s production.
